Solar Bears

I was thinking about solar flares today. You know what's cooler? Solar bears.
Okay I just Googled solar bears and it turns out it's the name of an American hockey team and also a band from Dublin. It's always slightly disappointing when original thoughts aren't all that original - I've more than once abandoned an idea when it turns out to have been done before. That said, I can't see any other drawings of bears made of with miniature flares coming off them. Not even sun bears.

Precisely HOW cash?

For Electric Sea Spider, whose new album Supercash dropped last week.

Space ranger

But with awesome huge socks.

The only thing remotely space-ish about it is the fact that he has a laser pistol instead of a regular pistol, but EH.

Bounty Hunter

Alright internet. I've been working on this one on and off since early October, and progress has been painfully slow. I started typing that it's not at all my fault, but it is entirely my fault, for my ambition got the better of my CPU and lack of RAM. This picture is roughly the size of  Mare Tranquillitatis, so every time I saved (which is frequent) it took longer and longer to do. The final save I just did then took about four minutes.
Yeah.
I need to build a new PC.

This is one of the many pictures I think of while falling asleep, then instantly wake up because of how excited I am about the idea. The woman you see here is a SPACE BOUNTY HUNTER. What's that you say? Is there anything more badass? No. No there is not. Concerning her robot-arm, I'd just like to say that I had the idea for this long before I ever heard of the mechromancer update.
Back to my overly ambitious (for my current rig) plan. So the full resolution of this picture is 8268 x 11520. In theory that doesn't sound like too much, but when you factor in a billion layers and layer effects the size takes its toll. Here's an example of how big it is (and even this isn't at 100%).

Large and pointing. Also, check out that dude's rad moustache.

Walter White Waits

Today I wanted to try drawing like Sam Bosma. That is not at all what happened.

So I just stuck with what I know, and it turned out pretty well. I've had this picture in mind for a few months, and had a super rough sketch of it from way back then, but the two look almost nothing alike now.

EDIT: A few people have been buying prints over the past week and I feel I should point out that anybody can do that. It's a pretty unofficial, un-automated process at this point, so if you're interested just send me a tweet or an email.

Medusozoa Blues

After putting what I think is far too much attempted detail into yesterday's picture and almost ruining it in the process, today I whipped up something from a sketch earlier in the week which is incredibly minimal by comparison.

Ahhhhh... Minimal.
One of the benefits of this style is that it allows the viewer to interpret it in a larger variety of ways. A lot of drawings are better when people make up their own story to go with it.
Alright. Drawing finished. Time to put pants on.

Once Upon a Crustacean in the West

There's something about ocean life just chilling out on land that I really like.

This picture could have many names; 'Bone Star', 'John Marrowman', 'The Good, The Crab, and the Skinless', 'A Clawfull of Dollars', and there are probably some crab puns I'm too tired to think of.
I'm not convinced it's good (as I don't like the shadows) but I am incredibly sick of looking at it so I declare it finished.

Ribbongirl

I could probably come up with a better name, but I couldn't come up with a better background. Random ribbon-type things it is!

Improvements all around, and now with 50% less left feet!

Ribbongirl WIP

I'm not really sure where to go with this, so instead of never finishing and posting it, here's a WIP.

Dahah, Ohh boy. I just noticed she has two left feet. I'll fix that when I get an idea of what the background needs to be.

Meine geschwistern

A sketch of Brotherman and Sisterman. Also me in the middle there.

I like those fisheye lenses for cameras, so this was just me having a go at replicating that.

Lord Snow

BAM. Threw this together over the past three hours.

No time to write a post, I'm going out in five minutes.

What time is it?

I love Adventure Time! Finally got around to drawing something in between work recently.

I threw all my favourites in there; Ice King, Beemo, LSP, they're all great. Meanwhile, I totally won a ticket to Symphony Of Legends for tonight. I'm super excited, and not just because I've always wanted to hear an orchestra in person, but to see Kurtz, Straub and Wheaton! Also to buy the poster Kurtz drew. Also also, can't wait to hear this performed live.
SUPER EXCITED.

Ross Noble Day

Check it oooooooooout.

This commission was super fun to do! SEND ME MORE COMMISSIONS.
I've been stuffing around with watercolours in the lounge room today and they've been turning out okay, so hopefully you'll be seeing mutant watercolour-digital hybrid drawings on here pretty soon. Check back towards the end of the week, not only for the possibility of MEDIOCRE WATERCOLOUR scans - but a special DSPR announcement.
(Disclaimer: Said announcement may only be special to me and my heightened interest in most things Star Wars)

THE FORGETFUL MAN

I have an actual website now.Visit the professional website and commission my illustration services in exchange for money.

Son of Gondor kind of a jerk - says hobbit

It's been a while since I've finished something to a degree that I'm willing to put it up here. A month? Something ridiculous like that. I started work on this on the weekend and roughly guessing, it's taken about 20 hours to complete.

You Go To Your Death
Drawing the leaves on the trees and ground INDIVIDUALLY was time consuming, but worth it in the end. It looks a lot better than big clumps of colour with the opacity turned down a bit or something equally as simple.
I'm not above making further changes to it, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
If you have a 20-hour drawing ahead of you, these help: 1, 2, 3, 4.

Bear Hunt

I've been working on this one for a while, and it was the first time I've done a colour test before actually starting on the real thing. Not completely convinced it's finished, but I'm a bit sick of looking at it so here it is anyway! I'm enjoying trying to put the look of particular seasons into pictures, so I may keep that up for a while.

Samurai v Knight

This feels like it's missing something, but I don't know what it is.

It's probably the lack of a background, but clearly it doesn't bother me enough to do something about it.

Hunter's Nap

I'm pretty damned happy with this, so it's important I don't look at it for too long lest I start to hate it. That's the usual routine.

EDIT: re-uploaded with minor changes.
He looks a little like Ezio Auditore, but that is perfectly alright since Ezio is a goddamn badass.
Notice I expertly avoided having to draw hands? Avoiding things that I need to practice is my speciality.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzap!

Why have I never done a Harry Potter drawing?

Drew this yesterday and today for my cousins who love some Harry Potter.
What else have I been not drawing? It's not Superman, because he's lame. A character with one weakness can't possibly be interesting. Every single challenge has to involve that one thing. A Lord of the Rings picture? Yes! Then it's decided; tomorrow is Tolkien-time. Also bin night?

EDIT: Wallpaper size has been requested.
